NEJM Group is the division of the Massachusetts Medical Society that publishes NEJM and other medical education and information products.
“This is the right time for a transition in leadership as the Journal looks toward the future,” Dr. Drazen stated in a press release. “It has truly been an honor to serve as the editor-in-chief of the Journal and as the editorial head of NEJM Group.”
Under Dr. Drazen’s leadership, NEJM Group launched NEJM Knowledge+, a customizable continuing medical education platform; NEJM Catalyst, a source for healthcare management and strategy ideas; NEJM Resident 360, a resource and discussion platform for residents; and NEJM 医学前沿, a Chinese translation of NEJM with comments from Chinese scholars. He also led NEJM during the publication of several landmark studies, including some of the first research on Ebola in West Africa.
Dr. Drazen will stay in the role until NEJM Group finds a successor. NEJM Group is looking worldwide for Dr. Drazen’s successor, and he plans to participate actively in the search.
