Community members who live near the hospital say the expansion would bring the buildings too close to their property, lowering its value, according to the report. However, hospital CEO Damond Boatwright said the project would generate $120 million for the city in new jobs and tax revenue, and these benefits would increase property values.
The hospital is bringing construction plans before the Overland Park City Council tonight. If approved, the hospital will break ground in four to six months.
