UNC Health Pardee in Hendersonville, N.C., has been designated as a Level III Trauma Center by the state.
The three-year designation follows a 12- to 15-month trauma operational period and an on-site review by trauma experts and state evaluators, according to an Aug. 11 news release.
Health system leaders said the designation will allow patients with serious injuries to receive initial trauma care closer to home, potentially reducing transport times.
UNC Health Pardee is a 222-bed hospital that serves the western North Carolina region and is managed by Chapel Hill, N.C.-based UNC Health.
