Bezos reclaims richest person in the world title

After Amazon released its record-breaking third quarter financial results Thursday, founder and CEO Jeff Bezos reclaimed the title of world’s richest person from Microsoft founder Bill Gates, according to The Hill.

Mr. Bezos’ net worth reached $90 billion after Amazon shares soared. Although Mr. Gates also saw a gain, the $550 million increase in his net worth only brought him to $88.5 billion.

Mr. Bezos has been neck-in-neck with Mr. Gates for the richest person throne. In July, he surpassed Mr. Gates but his reign lasted just one day.

The e-commerce giant has made several big moves lately, including slowly acquiring more than 10 wholesale pharmacy licenses from state boards in the past year. Other analysts predict the company is behind the proposed $66 billion CVS Health-Aetna deal. The moves are not surprising — Amazon is only looking for more growth since the company announced it was searching for a second North American headquarters in September.
