Abrom Kaplan Memorial Hospital in Kaplan, La., and Lafayette (La.) General Health have reached a long-term lease agreement that gives LGH expanded management and operational control of AKMH.
Since 2002, LGH and AKMH have had a partial arrangement, with LGH providing only executive strategy, financial analysis and group purchasing, both parties said. However, LGH has now signed a multi-year lease with AKMH, its physical plant and equipment, effective June 1.
Here are five things to know about the new lease/management agreement.
1. The goal of the agreement is "to continue the prosperity of AbromKaplanMemorialHospital, as well as introduce new opportunities for it to thrive in a very complex healthcare marketplace," both parties said.
2. Through the new partnership, LGH will provide resources, technology and clinical protocol alignment.
3. The agreement does not change the name of AKMH. The name of the facility will remain exactly as it has been since its founding in 1960.
4. The agreement does not change who owns the property and equipment for AKMH. The property and equipment is still owned by AKMH Board of Commissioners for Vermilion Parish Hospital Service District 1.
