7 phrases you’ll never hear come out of a successful leader’s mouth

The world’s most successful entrepreneurs and leaders arrived where they are today by following the unique paths that developed out of their specific visions. While these visions may all be different, there is one similarity in the way successful leaders develop and mature: their mentality.

According to Business Insider, the self-directed motivation driving leaders toward their goals combined with the refusal to let anyone or anything hold them down leads them to success. Implicit in this attitude is the understanding that one has the power to better his or own circumstances by taking action, while blaming others for feeling dissatisfied is a sign of weakness.

Successful people never utter the following seven phrases that contradict their driven mentalities.

1. “I hate what I’m doing.” Negative statements such as this do nothing to help an individual succeed. Even if they are surrounded by negative energy or in uncomfortable situations, successful people avoid such negativity irrespective of what they are doing at any point of life. They understand each experience as a stepping stone, and if there is a significant issue bringing them down at work, they seek to resolve it tactfully and neutrally, according to Business Insider.

2. “I deserve this more.” Successful people don’t waste their own or anyone else’s time complaining about life’s injustices. Instead of dwelling on situations that seem unfair, successful people know success must be earned and demonstrate why they deserve awards, recognition promotions.

3. “That’s not how we do it here.” Successful people are always interested in innovation and are open to doing away with convention to enable doing something better than it was done before. Even if someone’s idea seems impractical, a successful leader gives the person a chance to explain it and discuss the pros and cons, according to Business Insider.

4. “That’s not my problem.” Successful leaders genuinely want others to succeed as well. They take an interest in the challenges and successes of others and act as a team player because they understand their success and wealth is the result of the dedication of their employees.

5. “This is impossible.” Saying and believe you are unable to achieve something creates a self-imposed limitation to success. According to Business Insider, high-achievers don’t let hurdles discourage them. Rather, they use creativity to find a way around them.

6. “Could have, should have, would have.” Everyone regrets decisions at some point in life, but those driven to succeed don’t dwell on them. Instead, successful leaders do whatever they can to change their circumstances or move on to identify a better opportunity.

7. “I’ve done everything I could do.” Successful leaders know how to find new opportunities, even when others give up and it seems every option has been tried.
