5 things to know about Erlanger Health System’s women’s health services

Chattanooga, Tenn.-based Erlanger Health System, a level IV perinatal care hospital and the first provider in the state to offer a level IV neonatal intensive care unit, provides a wide-range of women’s health and maternity services.

Here are five things to know:

1. Erlanger physicians deliver an average of 5,500 babies and perform around 4,000 gynecology procedures and surgeries yearly.

2. Erlanger offers the region’s only academic OB/GYN program. Physicians in the program are focused on research, and in 2016, Erlanger investigators completed 25 research studies.

3. The health system provides its female patients state-of-the-art therapies and technologies, including SAVI Accelerated Partial Breast Irradiation therapy.

4. Erlanger is certified by The Joint Commission for perinatal care and has earned Blue Distinction Center designation for maternity care from Blue Cross Blue Shield.

5. The health system was Tennessee’s first accredited Baby Friendly Hospital as well as the first in the state to offer a fellowship program in minimally invasive gynecological surgery.
