Here are three steps you can take to help enhance your compassionate side.

1. Seek to apply compassion to any interaction to get in the habit of looking at the world through a compassionate lens.

2. Actively look for opportunities to show compassion, such as former Cisco CEO John Chambers does. He set up a system of notifications that would let him know within 48 hours if any employee at the company experienced a significant loss. Mr. Chambers would write a handwritten note to the employee to demonstrate how much the company values its employees.

3. Do a daily compassion meditation a few minutes each day to help rewire your brain to value compassion.
