Ohio State, Columbus Neighborhood Health Centers Partner to Reduce Cardiac Readmissions

Ohio State University Hospital East in Columbus and Columbus Neighborhood Health Centers have partnered to increase patients' access to cardiac care with the intention of reducing readmissions, according to a report from The Columbus Dispatch.

A cardiologist from OSU's CarePoint East facility in Columbus will see patients three days a week at the John R. Maloney South Side Health Center, a new 21,000-square-foot, $7.6 million health center also in Columbus and scheduled to open Nov. 5. By offering cardiology at another location, OSU hopes to reduce no-shows for cardiac appointments, which occur between 30 and 40 percent of the time at CarePoint East in Columbus, according to the report.

Future OSU programs designed to improve access to quality care in the Columbus area include a women's health program, behavioral health services and physical and occupational therapy, all located at the John R. Maloney South Side Health Center.
