9 Recent Surgery and Trauma Center Openings

Here are nine recent surgery and trauma center openings and expansions that have occurred or been announced in the past month, starting with the most recent. 

1. Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove,Ill., announced the opening of a new ambulatory surgery clinic on its campus.

2. Holland (Mich.) Hospital completed construction on a $10 million, 23,400-square-foot inpatient spine and orthopedics unit. 

3. Marysville (Ohio) Memorial Hospital of Union County announced it will open an outpatient orthopedic and sports medicine center in response to an increase in outpatient demand.

4. Cordele, Ga.-based Crisp Regional Hospital upgraded its status to level four trauma center after a $75,000 trauma equipment upgrade.

5. HealthFirst opened the doors of two new care centers, the Center for Fracture Care at Melbourne, Fla.-based Holmes Regional Medical Center, and the Center for Joint Replacement at Viera (Fla.) Hospital.

6. Parkview Health, based in Fort Wayne, Ind., formed a partnership between Parkview Physicians Group, Parkview Athletic Rehabilitation, AWP Sports Training and SportONE Orthopedics.

7. Fargo, N.D.-based Sanford Health opened the $9 million Sanford Orthopedics & Sports Medicine Center in Bemidji, Minn.

8. Oakland Regional Hospital in Southfield, Mich., launched an orthopedic hand treatment center.

9. Baltimore-based University of Maryland Medical System announced that its Kernan Orthopaedics and Rehabilitation Hospital in Baltimore will operate as the University of Maryland Rehabilitation & Orthopaedic Institute.
