UVM Medical Center drops ‘interim’ from president Dr. Steve Leffler’s title: 4 things to know

The University of Vermont Medical Center in Burlington has selected Stephen Leffler, MD, to serve as president and COO.

Four things to know;

1. Dr. Leffler had been UVM Medical Center’s interim president and COO since Eileen Whalen retired in June.

2. He also previously held other leadership positions at UVM Medical Center, including director of the emergency department, president of the medical staff, CMO, and chief population health and quality officer of UVM Health Network.

3. Outside of UVM Medical Center, he was president of the Vermont Medical Society, among other committee and board involvements.

4. Dr. Leffler earned a bachelor’s degree in biology at the University of Vermont and a medical degree from the University of Vermont’s Larner College of Medicine.
