UP Health System-Portage names new CEO

UP Health System–Portage in Hancock, Mich., has named Ed Freysinger CEO, effective March 30.

Mr. Freysinger most recently was chief administrative officer of PeaceHealth Ketchikan (Alaska) Medical Center. He will take the helm from Ryan Heinonen, MSN, RN, UP Health System–Portage’s chief nursing officer, who has been serving as interim CEO since December.

Before joining PeaceHealth Ketchikan, Mr. Freysinger was CEO of Providence Hood River (Ore.) Memorial Hospital.

He has a master’s degree in health services administration from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor.
