Mr. Garofola brings nearly a decade of healthcare leadership experience to UofL Health-Shelbyville Hospital. Formerly KentuckyOne Health Jewish Hospital Shelbyville, the hospital adopted the UofL Health name when the University of Louisville acquired KentuckyOne’s Louisville assets on Nov. 1.
Mr. Garofola joins the team in Shelbyville from Fort Wayne, Ind., where he led a multispecialty independent physician group, Associated Surgeons and Physicians & Women’s Health Advantage, as CEO. Mr. Garofola previously served as CEO of Dupont Hospital in Fort Wayne and before that, as CEO of Bluffton (Ind.) Regional Medical Center. From 2001-07, Mr. Garofola was an infantryman in the Indiana Army National Guard. He was deployed in Bosnia and Afghanistan in 2002 and again from 2004-05.
