University of Vermont Health Network promotes Dr. Stephen Leffler chief population health & quality officer: 4 points

Burlington-based University of Vermont Health Network appointed Stephen Leffler, MD, chief population health and quality officer. The position is the first senior leadership role created at the network since its inception in 2011.

Here are four points:

1. Dr. Leffler is currently chief quality officer and CMO for the University of Vermont Medical Center, also in Burlington.

2. An emergency medicine physician by training, he will continue to provide patient care in the UVM Medical Center’s emergency department.

3. In his new role, Dr. Leffler will be responsible for coordinating quality, patient safety and population health programs for UVM Health Network’s six hospitals.

4. The network is currently developing a transition plan and searching for a replacement for Dr. Leffler’s roles at University of Vermont Medical Center.
