University Medical Center in Texas names new CEO: 4 things to know

University Medical Center of El Paso (Texas), has named Jacob Cintron president and CEO, effective July 25.

Here are four things to know about Mr. Cintron.

1. He comes to UMC from Del Sol Medical Center in El Paso, where he had been CEO.

2. He replaces Jim Valenti, who is retiring after nearly 12 years at UMC.

3. He began working at UMC, then named Thomason Hospital, when he was a high school junior. He continued to work at UMC for nearly two decades where executives encouraged him to pursue his education, UMC said.

4. Mr. Cintron has three degrees from the University of Texas at El Paso — a bachelor's degree in accountancy, a master's degree in engineering and a master's degree in business administration.
