University Hospital names Dr. Chris Pernell chief strategic integration and health equity officer

University Hospital in Newark, N.J., has tapped Chris. T. Pernell, MD, to serve as chief strategic integration and health equity officer.

Dr. Pernell was previously the program leader for the 1199 SEIU/League Labor Management Initiatives Workplace and Community Health Program, which aims to help labor and management partner and respond to shifts in the healthcare industry in New York, Maryland and Florida.

She also serves as an adjunct associate professor at the NYU College of Global Public Health in New York City and is a fellow of the American College of Preventive Medicine.

In addition to her medical training, Dr. Pernell holds a master of public health degree from the Columbia Mailman School of Public Health in New York City.
