Mr. Barnes is currently the associate vice president for finance and university controller at Texas A&M University in College Station. Prior to that, he was the vice president for business and finance and CFO at West Texas A&M University in Canyon.
In his new role at Texas Tech, Mr. Barnes will coordinate an annual operating budget of more than $2 billion and will manage numerous offices and services, including the Office of Equal Employment Opportunity and Office of Investments.
Mr. Barnes succeeds Jim Brunjes, who is retiring after 17 years as Texas Tech University System’s CFO.
