Texas system names CEO

Victoria, Texas-based DeTar Healthcare System named Brett Maxfield as its new CEO, effective Oct. 20.

Mr. Maxfield brings nearly 10 years of healthcare leadership experience, according to an Oct. 8 health system news release. He held previous roles as COO and interim CEO at Longview (Texas) Regional Medical Center, and at Memorial Hospital Biloxi (Miss.).

He succeeds Bernard Leger, who stepped down from the role in September.

DeTar Healthcare System includes two hospitals and is part of Franklin, Tenn.-based Community Health Systems.
