St. Peter’s Healthcare System names 2 clinical leaders

New Brunswick, N.J.-based St. Peter’s Healthcare System appointed James Gervasoni Jr., MD, PhD, chair of the department of surgery at St. Peter’s University Hospital and Siva Jonna, MD, as chair of the department of pediatrics and physician-in-chief of The Children’s Hospital at St. Peter’s University Hospital.

Dr. Gervasoni joined the system in 2006 as St. Peter’s chair of the department of surgery, before he transitioned to vice chair of the department in 2015. Currently, he also serves as the vice president of St. Peter’s medical staff and as the surgical residency site director through St. Peter’s affiliation with Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School, also in New Brunswick.

Dr. Jonna, a pediatric critical care physician, has served as chief of the division of pediatric critical care medicine at The Children’s Hospital at St. Peter’s for 27 years and was appointed interim chair of the department of pediatrics at The Children’s Hospital in 2023.
