SSM Health St. Mary's Hospital-Jefferson City president resigns: 4 takeaways

Brent VanConia, president of SSM Health St. Mary's Hospital-Jefferson City (Mo.), resigned, effective Feb. 12, according to a News Tribune report.

Here are four takeaways:

1. Mr. VanConia is leaving to "pursue other opportunities," a spokesperson told the News Tribune.

2. He has served as president of the Jefferson City hospital since July 2007.

3. During his tenure, St. Louis-based SSM Health opened a new 375,000-square-foot facility for St. Mary's Hospital in 2014.

4. Philip Gustafson, former president of SSM Health's Illinois region, will take over as interim president of St. Mary's Hospital.
