Spectrum Health hires Banner Health exec as CFO: 5 takeaways

Grand Rapids, Mich.-based Spectrum Health appointed Matthew E. Cox senior vice president and CFO.

1. Mr. Cox comes to Spectrum Health from Banner Health in Phoenix, where he most recently served as senior vice president of finance operations.

2. He also previously served as CFO of San Francisco-based Dignity Health’s Arizona Service Area as well as executive vice president, CFO and treasurer of Central Maine Healthcare in Lewiston.

3. He served as board chair of Mercy Maricopa Integrated Care Health Plan as well as in committee leadership roles for Mercy Care Plan, joint venture health plans of Dignity and St. Louis-based Ascension.

4. Mr. Cox holds an MBA from Westminster College in Salt Lake City.

5. He succeeded Ron Knaus, who retired.
