After Mr. Comer alleged he was attacked on a hiking trail last Friday, he did not show up to a discussion with the Sitka Assembly scheduled for Friday afternoon. Hospital board president Celeste Tydingco read a statement by Mr. Comer in which he said he feared for his safety and would not stay in Sitka.
Just prior to his attack, Mr. Comer offered his resignation. On Jan. 4, he vacated his hospital-owned apartment, turned in his keys, rental car and laptop and relocated to Phoenix, according to the report.
Because Mr. Comer did not give the Sitka hospital board 60 days notice of his resignation, as required by his contract, he is not eligible to receive his severance package, the report said.
