Sierra Vista names Michael Bell COO: 4 things to know

San Luis Obispo, Calif.-based Sierra Vista Regional Medical Center has named Michael Bell COO, according to a report from The Tribune.

Here are four things to know about Mr. Bell.

1. He previously was associate administrator of hospital operations at Kern Medical Center in Bakersfield, Calif., and also previously was director of clinical quality improvement at Doctors Medical Center in Modesto, Calif. Additionally, he has worked at Bakersfield Heart Hospital.

2. In his new role, he is responsible for overseeing SVRMC's daily operations and ancillary departments such as pathology, radiology, pharmacy and plant operations. He is involved with the hospital's clinical outcomes, patient, physician and employee satisfaction, and financial success.

3. Mr. Bell succeeds Ike Mmeje, who was named CEO of Doctors Hospital of Manteca (Calif.).

4. He earned a bachelor's degree in general studies from the University of Nebraska in Lincoln, a Master of Divinity from Trinity Lutheran Seminary in Columbus, Ohio, and a Master of Business Administration in healthcare administration from Gainesville, Ga.-based Brenau University.
