Saint Mary's Regional Medical Center appoints new CEO: 6 things to know

James "Jim" F. Davidson will become CEO of Russellville, Ark.-based Saint Mary's Regional Medical Center, part of Franklin, Tenn.-based Capella Healthcare, at the beginning of November.

Here are six things to know about Mr. Davidson.

1. He will take over for COO Mike McCoy, who has been serving as interim CEO since the previous CEO, Donnie Frederic, passed away in July 2014.

2. He is coming to Russellville from Muskogee, Okla., where he is COO of EASTAR Health System, a 320-bed, two-campus health system serving seven counties. The main campus, formerly Muskogee Regional Medical Center, was one of the first hospitals established in Oklahoma, and has grown to become one of the state's largest and most comprehensive facilities.

3. Prior to EASTAR, Mr. Davidson was COO of Westlake Hospital, 225-bed medical center in Melrose Park, Ill. 

4. Previously, he served as vice president of ancillary and support services for Saint Vincent Hospital, a 321-bed teaching hospital in Worcester, Mass.

 5. His healthcare leadership experience includes numerous process improvements, employee engagement and patient satisfaction initiatives, and oversight of facility renovations. While in Muskogee, Mr. Davidson oversaw the transition of Muskogee Community Hospital into a women's and children's specialty facility following its purchase by Capella.

6. Mr. Davidson earned his bachelor's and master's degrees in healthcare administration from the University of St. Francis in Joliet, Ill. Additionally, he holds a Certificate in Radiology Technology from Lafayette (La.) General Medical Center.
