Robert Marmerstein named COO of Mainland Medical Center: 5 things to know

Robert Marmerstein has joined Texas City-based Mainland Medical Center, a Nashville, Tenn.-based Hospital Corporation of America hospital, as COO.

Here are five things to know about Mr. Marmerstein.

1. Mr. Marmerstein began his new position at Mainland Medical Center June 19.

2. Mr. Marmerstein comes to MMC from LewisGale Medical Center, a 506-bed HCA hospital located in Salem, Va., where he served as associate COO.

3. During his time at LewisGale, Mr. Marmerstein was instrumental in several key initiatives, including the comprehensive rebranding of the LewisGale Regional Health System, a redesign of the patient experience and multiple construction and renovation projects.

4. In addition to his responsibilities with LewisGale, Mr. Marmerstein was a founding partner and board member of the Roanoke Health Care Alliance, a partnership between local providers across the continuum of care who collaborate to provide information, education and other resources to help local families navigate the healthcare system. 

5. Mr. Marmerstein was also active with the United Way of Roanoke Valley and managed LewisGale's annual employee giving campaign, helping to raise more than $200,000.
