Richard Gilfillan, MD. President and CEO of Trinity Health (Livonia, Mich.). Since taking the helm of Trinity Health in 2013, Dr. Gilfillan is responsible for overseeing a $15.9 billion Catholic health system serving communities in 22 states with 93 hospitals and 120 continuing care facilities. Dr. Gilfillan’s healthcare leadership experience spans 25 years in both the for-profit and nonprofit sectors. After launching the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Innovation in 2010, Dr. Gilfillan served as its first director. Before that, he was president and CEO of Geisinger Health Plan and executive vice president of insurance operations for Danville, Pa.-based Geisinger Health System. Dr. Gilfillan began his career as a family medicine physician.
