Mr. Harris will serve as CEO of Sutter Health’s Mills-Peninsula Medical Center in Burlingame and San Mateo, Calif. He began his new role July 24, according to a news release from Sutter.

Providence named Mr. Harris chief executive of St. Joseph and Redwood Memorial hospitals in 2022.

“During his time in Humboldt, Darian served with distinction, successfully leading St. Joseph Hospital in Eureka and Redwood Memorial Hospital on a day-to-day basis amid unprecedented challenges in healthcare, including economic impacts of COVID-19 and a national shortage of healthcare workers,” Providence spokesperson Christian Hill said, according to the Times-Standard.

Mr. Hill said Ranjit Hundal, MD, chief medical officer for Providence in Humboldt County, has been named the interim chief executive.

Providence is based in Renton, Wash. Sutter Health is based in Sacramento, Calif.
