Dr. Abelson will take over as CEO for the hospital and clinic chain when David Wessner retires at the end of this year.
Dr. Abelson began his career at Park Nicollet as a practicing physician in internal medicine before becoming an executive at the health provider and then chief clinical officer in 2008. He was promoted to president earlier this year.
