Oaklawn Hospital gets new CIO: 4 things to know

Oaklawn Hospital in Marshall, Mich., has hired Mac McClurkan as its new CIO.

Here are four things to know about Mr. McClurkan.

1. He has more than 30 years of experience in healthcare leadership.

2. Most recently, he was COO of HealthPlus of Michigan, a health insurance company based in Flint. In that role, Mr. McClurkan focused on information technology, claims processing, human resources, customer service, facilities and the program management office.

3. In his new role as CIO of Oaklawn, Mr. McClurkan will be in charge of all information technology linking Oaklawn's medical and administrative areas, as well as related physician practices, according to the hospital.

4. Mr. McClurkan began studying healthcare administration and computer science in college classes at age 16, earning a bachelor's degree in business with a minor in healthcare administration in 1983 from the University of Tennessee, based in Knoxville, and a master's degree in business administration in 1991 from the University of Evansville (Ind.).
