Mount Sinai appoints chief of system development

New York City-based Mount Sinai Health System has appointed Stephen Savas as executive vice president and chief of system development and strategic initiatives, effective Nov. 1.

In the newly created role, Mr. Savas will work with Mount Sinai’s executive team to oversee long-term strategy, system development and execution across clinical care, research, education and innovation. His responsibilities include supporting the implementation of the organization’s One Mount Sinai transformation initiative, a center-led model aimed at aligning operations across the health system, according to a news release the health system shared with Becker’s.

Brendan Carr, MD, Mount Sinai’s CEO, said the position is designed to advance enterprise-level growth efforts through partnerships and new business models.

Mr. Savas has served as an adviser to Mount Sinai on management strategies and brings more than 30 years of experience in healthcare strategy, operations and technology. He most recently served as a managing director at Accenture, where he worked since 2013 and served as North America health lead since 2023. In that role, he supported payers and providers on growth, innovation and efforts to improve care cost and quality.
