Dr. Baumgartner initially announced a Sept. 6 retirement, and Dr. Biersack originally was to take over as interim CMO.
Dr. Biersack most recently served as chief quality and patient safety officer at Mercy Health St. Mary’s. He has worked at Grand Rapids-based Mercy Health since 2007, and has served in several capacities since, including as medical director for the hospitalist group. He has also previously served as interim CMO of Mercy Health St. Mary’s.
Dr. Biersack is a member of the American Association for Physician Leadership.
