Loyola Medicine appoints Dr. Richard Freeman regional chief clinical officer

Maywood, Ill.-based Loyola Medicine has selected Richard K. Freeman, MD, to serve as regional chief clinical officer, a newly created role.

Dr. Freeman, who will assume the role Nov. 4, will also be a professor in the department of thoracic and cardiovascular surgery at Loyola University Chicago Stritch School of Medicine.

He comes to Loyola Medicine from Indianapolis-based St. Vincent Health System, where he was system CMO. Before that, he was CMO for St. Vincent Indianapolis hospital and chair of the oncology affinity group for St. Louis-based Ascension, St. Vincent’s parent.

Dr. Freeman is a U.S. Navy veteran and a thoracic and cardiovascular surgery specialist.
