LifeCare Hospitals appoints Frank Battafarano interim COO

Plano, Texas-based LifeCare Holdings, which operates LifeCare Hospitals, also in Plano, has appointed Frank J. Battafarano as interim COO.

Mr. Battafarano joins LifeCare this month, replacing Stuart Archer.

Mr. Battafarano has more than 30 years of leadership experience in the long-term and post-acute care sectors. He comes from Louisville, Ky.-based Kindred Healthcare, where he held several executive positions, including COO, executive vice president and president of the hospital division.

“Frank has a unique depth and breadth of expertise in our specialized area of healthcare, and comes to LifeCare at an ideal time for our company,” said Philip B. Douglas, chairman and CEO of LifeCare Holdings. “I have no doubt Frank will help us advance our operations and help us identify a dynamic industry leader to fill the position on a permanent basis.”
