Tom Patrias has been named CEO of University Medical Center New Orleans, part of LCMC Health, also of New Orleans, effective Aug. 1.
He has served as the hospital’s COO for nearly two years, according to a July 17 news release from the health system. He will succeed John Nickens, who was named CEO of Phoenix Children’s and will depart from UMC on July 31.
Mr. Patrias brings more than 20 years of healthcare experience to the role. Previously, he served as CEO of Tulane Medical Center in New Orleans and at Lakeside Hospital in Metairie, La.
Since joining UMC in January 2024 as COO, he has led key initiatives to expand service lines and improve operational efficiency. Mr. Patrias also strengthened the hospital’s partnerships with Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge and Tulane University in New Orleans.
