Lake Huron Medical Center CEO Rebekah Smith to retire

Port Huron, Mich.-based Lake Huron Medical Center CEO Rebekah Smith, RN, is retiring in spring 2017.

Ms. Smith was appointed to her current roles in 2012 at the medical center, previously called St. Joseph Mercy Port Huron. She led the hospital through its acquisition by Ontario, Calif.-based Prime Healthcare, when it was renamed Lake Huron Medical Center. During Ms. Smith’s time leading the hospital, it earned The Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval for Hospital Accreditation and started a new pulmonary rehabilitation program.

Ms. Smith joined the hospital in 1980 as a registered nurse.

“My announcement comes with enormous gratitude for the privilege of serving this great organization for more than 30 years and with a deep sense of accomplishment for all we have achieved together during my tenure as CEO these past five years,” said Ms. Smith in a statement.
