KentuckyOne Health Realigns Leadership Roles

Following a 500-employee layoff and a $218 million budget cut, Louisville-based KentuckyOne Health has realigned some of its leadership roles and responsibilities, according to a posting on the health system’s employee website.

Joe Gilene, president of Saint Joseph Hospital in Lexington, will become president of Jewish Hospital and leader of the KentuckyOne’s Louisville medical campus, effective April 1.

John Smithhisler, market leader at Saint Joseph Hospital, will reassume his position as president of Saint Joseph, which he held before Gilene was appointed. He will serve in both roles.

Charles Peck, MD, interim president of Jewish Hospital in Louisville and leader of the Louisville campus, is leaving the organization to be a managing director at Navigant Health.

Michael Collins, president of Jewish Hospital Shelbyville, will retire on April 30.

Bev Weaver, COO of the health system, is leaving her position, effective May 31, to take on a consulting role.
