Jonathan Watkins was appointed senior vice president and area manager of Oakland, Calif.-based Kaiser Permanente’s Santa Rosa service area, according to an Aug. 20 news release shared with Becker’s.
Mr. Watkins will oversee hospital operations at Santa Rosa Medical Center and the Kaiser Foundation Health Plan for an area where nearly half of Sonoma County, Calif., residents are Kaiser Permanente members, according to the release.
He has more than 15 years of experience overseeing hospital operations and most recently served as president of City of Hope Atlanta. Before that, he was CEO of Broward Health Imperial Point, a 250-bed acute care hospital in Fort Lauderdale, Fla.
The move is a return to Kaiser Permanente for Mr. Watkins, who previously was COO of the system’s Central Valley service area in California, where he oversaw day-to-day operations of three hospitals.
“Kaiser Permanente’s commitment to delivering high-quality care and improving the health of our patients, members, and the communities we serve is something I am passionate about and will focus on in this new role,” Mr. Watkins said in the release.
Mr. Watkins succeeds Abhishek Dosi, who is now senior vice president and area manager of Kaiser Permanente’s Golden Gate service area, according to the release.
Kaiser Permanente serves 12.9 million members across nine states and Washington, D.C.
