Kaiser Permanente names Richard Daniels CIO

Richard (Dick) Daniels has been named executive vice president and CIO for Oakland, Calif.-based Kaiser Permanente.

Mr. Daniels will spearhead Kaiser Permanente’s IT division’s strategy and execution. He has served as the system’s interim CIO since September 2014, when Philip Fasano resigned to become executive vice president and CIO at insurance company AIG.

Prior to his role as interim CIO, he was the senior vice president of enterprise shared services for Kaiser Permanente, where he oversaw technology end user services, national facilities services and national pharmacy options. Before entering that position, he was senior vice president of the system’s IT for health plan and hospital operations. He has also held IT leadership roles at JP Morgan Chase and Capital One.
