Mr. Swedish has been a member of the CHA board since 2006, and has served as chairman since June 2012. Mr. Swedish’s resignation from CHA follows his departure from Livonia, Mich.-based Trinity Health, a Catholic health system.

Mr. Swedish left Trinity to become CEO of Indianapolis-based health insurer WellPoint. Mr. Swedish joined WellPoint in February, an appointment which raised speculation that WellPoint was interested in hospital acquisition and vertical integration with providers.
