Johns Hopkins CIO to retire this summer

Stephanie Reel will retire from Johns Hopkins on July 1 after three decades as an IT leader there, the Baltimore-based institution announced Dec. 5.

Ms. Reel joined Johns Hopkins in 1990. She has served as CIO and vice provost for IT for Johns Hopkins University and CIO and senior vice president for Johns Hopkins Medicine since 1998.

At Johns Hopkins, Ms. Reel played a key role in the expanded and enhanced use of electronic patient records at Johns Hopkins Medicine, as well as the creation of the systemwide Epic EMR system. She also was responsible for the launch of the Technology Innovation Center at Johns Hopkins Medicine, which creates digital healthcare solutions across the institution.

Ms. Reel's previous positions at Johns Hopkins include director of information services for Johns Hopkins Hospital, senior director of information services for Johns Hopkins Medicine, and vice president.
