Jim Sheets, president of the Peaks Region at Salt Lake City-based Intermountain Health, departed his role March 27, the health system said in a statement shared with Becker’s.

Mr. Sheets shared his interest in slowing down and creating space to reflect on what he is looking for in the next phase of his career, according to Intermountain Health. “We’re grateful for Jim’s leadership and the positive impact he has made on Intermountain Health and our communities for nearly 20 years,” the system said.

Mr. Sheets became president of the Broomfield, Colo.-based Peaks Region in 2024. Before that, he served as group president at Chicago-based CommonSpirit Health for 10 hospitals in Colorado and Utah.

With Mr. Sheets’ departure, Scott Peek, Colorado Front Range market president, will lead teams in the Peaks Region, mainly in Colorado and Montana, according to Intermountain Health.

“He will work closely with senior leadership and teams across the region and system to ensure continuity of leadership and ongoing support for Intermountain caregivers, patients and communities,” the health system said.

Intermountain Health is a 34-hospital system that also includes 400 clinics, according to its website. It serves patients and communities in Utah, Idaho, Nevada, Colorado, Montana and Wyoming.

At the Becker's 11th Annual IT + Revenue Cycle Conference: The Future of AI & Digital Health, taking place September 14–17 in Chicago, healthcare executives and digital leaders from across the country will come together to explore how AI, interoperability, cybersecurity, and revenue cycle innovation are transforming care delivery, strengthening financial performance, and driving the next era of digital health.
