HSHS representatives would not say whether Mr. Schumacher, who has served as COO since 2007, was fired or resigned, according to the report. Mary Starmann-Harrison, president and CEO of the system, said in a statement that she and Schumacher “have mutually agreed he will leave HSHS after recognizing that our philosophical approaches to leading the organization are not fully aligned.”
Additionally, Ms. Starmann-Harrison and Jay Justice, HSHS human resources officer “mutually agreed that he tender his resignation,” but did not say whether Mr. Justice’s departure was related to Mr. Schumacher’s. Mr. Justice has served HSHS for the last six years.
