Dr. Cavazzoni joined the FDA seven years ago after two decades at leading pharmaceutical companies, including Pfizer, Sanofi and Eli Lilly. She has held several leadership positions at the FDA, including deputy center director for operations.
In recent months, other top FDA leaders have also announced their departures, including Jeff Shuren, MD, director of the Center for Devices and Radiological Health, and Namandjé Bumpus, PhD, the agency’s principal deputy commissioner.
