East Georgia Regional Medical Center names Stephen Pennington CEO

East Georgia Regional Medical Center in Statesboro has tapped Stephen Pennington to serve as CEO.

Mr. Pennington assumed the role July 9, prior to which he was vice president of operations for Community Health Systems Professional Services Corp., a management company that provides services to the subsidiary hospital operator companies and other affiliates of Franklin, Tenn.-based Community Health Systems.

Mr. Pennington has more than 20 years of senior-level management experience in healthcare.

He holds a master’s degree in hospital administration from the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa.
