Columbus-based Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center has made Mike Farrow its permanent chief information security officer after about eight months in the role on an interim basis.
In a Nov. 6 LinkedIn post, Mr. Farrow said healthcare cybersecurity is in a period of real risk and change. “Threats are getting more sophisticated, AI is changing both sides of the fight, and the stakes for patient care have never been higher,” he wrote. He also said that as an Ohio State graduate, the job is personal to him.
Mr. Farrow was previously director of cyber defense at Dallas-based Baylor Scott & White Health from 2023 to 2025. He spent nearly 13 years at Columbus-based OhioHealth, rising from an IT support technician role in 2010 to director-level positions overseeing vulnerability management and cybersecurity integration.
The Wexner Medical Center CISO reports to the medical center’s chief information and digital transformation officer and has a dual report to Ohio State’s universitywide CISO, according to a job posting for the position. The role oversees security, risk management, compliance and security architecture for the university’s clinical operations.
