Duke health system names COO

Thomas Owens, MD, has been selected as executive vice president and COO of Durham, N.C.-based Duke University Health System.

Dr. Owens will begin his new role on April 1, according to a news release. He succeeds Craig Albanese, MD, who was tapped as the next CEO of Duke University Health System. Dr. Albanese is also slated to begin his new role on April 1.

Most recently, Dr. Owens served as group president of acute care, senior vice president of Duke University Health System, and president of Duke University Hospital.
