Dr. Deeken will also serve as medical director for the Inova Schar Head and Neck Cancer program. He has worked at Inova since 2013, providing care as a medical oncology specialist and conducting laboratory research into head and neck cancers caused by the human papillomavirus.
He was previously director of the head and neck medical oncology program at the Lombardi Comprehensive Cancer Center at Georgetown University in Washington, D.C.
Dr. Deeken is a professor of medicine at Charlottesville-based University of Virginia and Richmond-based Virginia Commonwealth University. He also currently serves on the American Society of Clinical Oncology’s Government Relations Committee.
