Mr. Nelson, who will assume his new role on or before Nov. 1, was previously Upper Peninsula Regional CEO for Wausau, Wis.-based Aspirus, a nonprofit health system. While there, he grew Aspirus’ Western Upper Peninsula region to four hospitals and 13 clinic locations.
Mr. Nelson is the permanent successor to John Schon, who resigned at the end of last year after a failed merger between Dickinson and Marquette, Mich.-based UP Health System.
