Cooper Green CEO Dr. Sandral Hullett Fighting Termination Decision

Sandral Hullett, MD, CEO of county-owned Cooper Green Mercy Hospital in Birmingham, Ala., is fighting her termination, according to a WBRC report.

Earlier this year, the Jefferson County Commission voted to close the hospital's inpatient and emergency care. This effectively put Dr. Hullett and approximately 200 other hospital employees out of work as they were placed on administrative leave without pay, according to the report.

According to the report, Dr. Hullett's lawyer will attempt to show her termination was motivated by race and age.

Jefferson County Manager Tony Petelos maintains the county did not violate any laws in the termination, according to the report.
