Conway Medical Center CEO to retire: 4 things to know

Philip A. Clayton, president and CEO of Conway (S.C.) Medical Center, is retiring, effective Dec. 31.

Here are four things to know:

1. Mr. Clayton is ending a 37-year career at the medical center. He joined Conway in 1980 as controller.

2. He assumed the CFO role in 1983 and was promoted to his current roles in 1992.

3. Mr. Clayton spearheaded three major expansions and helped the organization grow while remaining financially sound.

4. Bret Barr, the hospital’s executive vice president and CEO, is slated to succeed Mr. Clayton, effective Jan. 1, 2018.
